I'm slow, I need a step by step how to exactly setup to plug a ps3 into my stereo(digital audio) and hdtv?
I have a hdmi plugged into my tv, but I want to use the digital audio to come through my stereo(also has digital audio input). I have a 37 vizio plasma with all the hook ups for audio and video. My tv is also connected to the attuverse box if that matters(also has digital audio input). I'm not an audio genius so I need a lot of help on what needs to be hooked up to what and the settings I need for my ps3. Thanks for any help you can give.
First thing to do is connect the the digital optical cable from the ps3 to your receiver. With the ps3 you can select both hdmi and optical digital cable for your audio. Just beware that the one that you will choose as your default will carry the full digital signal and the other one will be the same as dolby 2.0 sound. Power up the ps3 and find the audio settings. It will ask you which one you want as the default then it will ask if you want both turned on. go thru the settings and finish and you should be all set.
