Why does Dream Theater suck so bad?
To me, the production is cheesy, the lyrics are cheesy, they use the same crappy effect on the lead guitar, they lack soul, and originality. How good or bad a song is, is not on a scale of how fast or technical it is. Complicated does not automatically make you better. To me, they're an unoriginal novelty band, who can't WRITE music for crap. They can play extremely well, but they seem to have no writing ability or style in their playing. Anyone else agree? Writing is a talent, and no matter how fast you get or how technically skilled you get on the guitar, it does not make you a good songwriter.
