what guitar pickup should i get for my fender strat?
i have the normal fender strat, with all the Original parts including the pickups (which suck)
i looked for a while and found some good dimarzio pickups for fender
but when i see people putting working on their fenders and replacing the pickups they always go with EMG's
why?
i want a great pickup that sounds great clean and distorted! one with good tone
i also want a pickup that keeps that fender strat sound though
so should i go with Dimarzio or EMG pickups?
As Saul puts it, Seymour Duncan is a very good match for the Stratocaster is you are replacing the neck pickup. It will give a clean sound and if played throughan HM-s Boss distortion, it will give a clean sustain.
As for the bridge pickup, if you want to add flavour to the strat, put in the Humbucker from Hell. It cancels fewer frequencies has a brighter and cleaner sound, and sounds like a Strat pickup with the same power as a PAF. You won't believe how much it will open up the sound in the neck position and yes, expect super high power output with a truly vintage sound sort of like Steve Morse.
I have an old 1962 Strat with a humbucker at the bridge, a PAF in the mid and a Duncan at the bridge. Perfect combo.....what can I say.
Forget EMG and not that they are no good. I own a Jackson with EMG BUT, combined with active electronics. That is the only acceptable solution with EMG. Otherwise, forget it.
