How do you string popcorn on a Christmas Tree?
what kind of string do you use. No detail is too small, I am not very handy.
Go to the store and buy some popcorn (not microwavable). I prefer to buy the white popcorn for my tree but you can use yellow popcorn if that is all that is available.
You will need several quarts of popcorn, depending on the size of the tree.
After popping the popcorn, I place it in a grocery sack and leave it overnight. You can use it immediately but I have found using stale popcorn is better...it tends not to break as easily.
Thread a medium needle with 4 feet of thread. Double the thread and tie it off. Thread the needle through the center of the fattest part of the kernel and work the popcorn down to the knot in the thread. Repeat until you have strung corn onto the entire length of string. Cut the thread and repeat with another section of thread. Tie sections together to create a long string of popcorn.
You do not have to double the thread or cut it from the spool but I find it works better to double it and it makes it stronger.
