Amp Cord
What kind of wire to use to make my own custom Heavy Duty Extension Cord for 16 amp and up tools.?
There are plenty of heavy duty extension cords out there, Ridgid makes them, Workforce makes them, Husky makes them. Ya know, for use on circular saws and whatnot to cover the correct ampage. What kind of wire are those cords? I intend to make my own.
I used 12/3 "well-feeder" with "hospital grade" plugs for my extra-long extra HD cords. This stuff has stranded wire, with rubber exterior coating. I have two 125'ers. Specializing in barns, I am frequently a long way from real power supplies. I have, with no negative effects, used these cords with generators (thus the length, keep those noisy things as far away as possible) running 2hp compressors, chop saws, circ saws, the works.
Hope this works for you
