Vintage Gibson

What should I look for defects in a vintage (used) guitar?

there is a Les Paul that I want that sounds great but it is used, I did not buy it then and there that I knew I was not going to give a proper evaluation, especially since they are so excited him .. It is the 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom, sounds fine and everything seems to be sitting right .. I'm not looking? or should I ask the type of sale?

Look for signs of it being played, such as wearing nail on the collar where strings are common place, the stripes that the recovery would be on the pickguard and above ropes, and faded colors, where the armrests. The knobs still intact? What about the back of it - any sign of belt buckle scratch? If the 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom has none of these you can find that: 1. It was rarely played and is truly a great buy or 2. It has been resurfaced in giving a like-new appearance. Obviously, the asking price will determine how much you want.
