Knobs Knob
How do I put in a new door knob, replacing older ones?
I'd like to replace all the door knobs in my house. What are the steps I need to take, the measurements, etc.
They are older doors with older knobs and locks, some even working anymore.
Here is a picture of what they sort of resemble: http://robinsonsantiques.com/door-knob-set/door-knob-set-8.jpg When taken off, there are two 3/4 inch holes that are 1 1/2 inches apart.
I have no idea where to begin!
If anyone can find me a good guide online or whatnot, that would be great.
take a phillips screwdriver and disassemble old hardware and check the hole where the old came out.you may need to redrill because older types are smsller.there are directions in the box of the new hardware.save that old stuff its antique and could bring you a few bucks. you will have to get a keyhole saw attached to a drill to put in the new. after you are done paint the surface of the doors where the escusions were.thats the flat ornate plates on the knob assembly
