Pickup Selector

can someone possibly diagnose this Stratocaster pickup hummmmm?

Simply put, I'm getting annoying hum only when the pickup selector on my Strat is set on the bridge, middle, or neck positions, but no noise on the inbetween positions. Could a reverse wound middle p/up make any kind of difference? Or any other suggestions. Thanks

The in-between positions on the pickup selector switch are intended to combine your existing reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup with the bridge and neck pickups individually, forming a a humbucking-like arrangement that offers quieter operation. In order to have no-hum pickups in every position, you would need to install either stacked single-coil-space humbucker pickups (DiMarzio, Seymour-Duncan, Fender, etc.), a noise-reduction system like the Suhr BPSSC ( http://www.suhrguitars.com/downloads/pdf/BPSSC_Instruction_Manual.pdf ), or apply shielding techniques ( http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/shielding/shield3.php ). Single-coil hum is something that many pro guitar players just live with, as once you start playing (especially at higher volumes) the tone tends to drown out the background noise.
