Stratocaster Pickup Combination Question!!!?
So I have a Mexican Stratocaster SSH and I'm wondering what kind of pickups I should get. I'm fairly new to any guitar maintenance and know almost nothing about guitar pickups, but I do have a soldering iron and the willingness to learn!...lol Right now I'm really leaning toward Seymour Duncan pickups. Here's what I'm thinking about getting:
Single Coil Neck - Seymour Duncan APS-1 Alnico II Pro
Single Coil Middle - (Not too sure about the middle, was thinking about little 59ers or hot rails)
Humbucker Bridge - Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB
I basically listened to all the sound clips of these pickups on seymourduncan.com and these pickups seem to have the sound that I want. So what do you guys think? Will this combination work?
what sound are you going for?
I put a Seymour Duncan Hotrail in the neck
and a DiMarzio Evolution at the neck and left the center [i should take it out, i never use it].
I get really really deep tones with the hotrail and ultra brights with the evolution. With distortion i can easily get pinch harmonics at the bridge while satisfying death metal at the neck. But the bridge setting is amazing for clean guitaring.
