I believe they both can... It also depends on the type of amp you're buying and what kind of petals you are using (if any)
If you are a newbie at guitar I'd start with the Les Paul (epiphone), because it's cheaper and a good starter to practice on (I started with an epiphone sg) If you are more experienced, however, I'd take the gibson les paul because it is the more professional guitar. I'm not a huge fender person but it's up to you.
