Did you try tightening the screw inside the machine head ( sometimes the screw is showing on the outside, if that's the case, try tightening that screw)?

I don't know what kind of guitar you are playing, but if the machine head is covered with a chrome-dome type plate that is affixed to the guitar with two screws, try unscrewing those screws to get the chrome plate off the machine head. You should be able to tell if the machine head is just loose. If it is, tighten the screw that is holding the machine head together. A lot of times, the machine head just comes loose.

Otherwise, call Matt Umanov Guitars 212-675-2157, tell them what kind of guitar you have and ask them if you have to replace all of the machine heads on that side of the headstock, or if you can just replace the broken one. If they tell you to bring it in and you don't live in New York, just tell them that you are looking to find out how much it costs to have it repaired. If they don't help you, and they should, they're awesome people, then try to find a guitar shop in your area that fixes guitars. You don't need a great luthier (guitar builder / fixer) to change a machine head. It's pretty basic.

Good luck!
