Telecaster Esquire
What stings guitar should I get?
I own a Fender Esquire. That's pretty much a Telecaster with a single microphone. I am looking to find the perfect tone for my guitar, and I'm not very happy with the tone of my son. I play mostly funk and rock and I play a lot of Red Hot Chili Peppers and John Frusciante. What kind of strings should I get? Please be very specific.
Perfect tone? Nothing better! The most important thing on your channel is your gauge. I always liked 10 for strings. 9 are somewhat fragile and 11 are uncomfortable on my fingers. 10 seem to have the better support, in my opinion too. I've never been a huge believer that the technology of a company is much better than others. Some Strings are just crap, but most of the branded chains are excellent, and it's a question of your ears to discern what key (if you can) is the most attractive for you. Names like D'Addario, Labella, Gibson, Fender, Ernie Ball, Darco, D'Aquisto, Cleartone, Elixir, etc. are all large chains. If you use a brand name, try tweaking your settings on your amp / pedals. I find that makes the most difference. In addition, a good correction ... large truck parts can be what you are really after. There is no harm in trying all the tricks well, and try different channels calibres. My choice is one of the brands listed in 10 gauge. Do not search strings ... Guitar they are terrible.
