Bad Horsie Wah battery not working and 9v adapter creating hum?

I've had a Bad Horsie for not too long and have hardly used it. when I picked it up to play it, the battery power does not work, even though i am sure that the battery is not dead. When I try to plug in the 9v adapter, the pedal works but there is an overwhelming amount of hum. I've opened it up and the wiring seems to all be intact on the wires from the battery. I'm stumped at this point

i suggest you just see someone at a guitar shop and they will fix your wah pedal.
