What DO you do if you're driving down the road & your gas pedal gets stuck in the floormat of your car?
My parents & sister both own Toyota Camrys & I want to tell them what to do if this happens...just in case. I think if anyone got into that situation, they might panic & not know what to do. Thanks.
Not panicking is the most important thing. Try these steps:
1. Reach down, grab the floor mat, and pull it back away from the pedal. I had to do this on my old Civic occasionally.
2. Hook your toe under the gas pedal and pull up on it
3. Shift the transmission into Neutral. The engine computer will hopefully protect it from over-revving. Even if it doesn't, engine damage is preferable to a crash. Then use the brakes to stop the car.
